Do you have a reasonable SOLUTION to PROBLEMS DESTROYING THE BLACK COMMUNITY?

What are some solutions to single parent homes, std's/HIV, teen pregnancy, lack of marriage, lack of education, lack of strength in unity/support, lack of jobs, incarceration, homosexuality, crime, lack of sexual restraint, murder, competition/jealousy, oppression, bad credit, lack of spiritual values, and respect amongst our people? Yes, many of our people have risen above these circumstances but what can ALL of us do to improve and empower ALL OF US and set examples for HUMANITY? Choose 1 or more issue to discuss.

Single parent homes: When you meet a man or woman, be more selective in who you having sex with. Focus more on building something so you can atleast get a glimpse of their true colors before you sleep with them. If after all that, you still get left in the cold then dont repeat the cycle. Teach your children VALUES and dont go out getting pregnant by a new guy and having another fatherless child. If you are a single parent due to divorce, and death...well those are different and some things you just cant help.

Teen Pregnancy: Teach teens values and instill them and be a good example. You cant stop them from having sex if they want to. They will do it behind your back (some of them), educate them on condoms, put them on birth control and just have a good relationship with them so that the can tell you. Threatening to kill them if they bring a baby into your home isnt affective. That will only make them have an abortion behind your back or worse.

Homosexuality: What exactly do you want to do about that? No one chooses to be gay and thats all there is to it. If your not fucking me then I dont care...live your life. No one has a right to tell the next person what to do with their genitalia. Solution: If it not affecting you in YOUR pants then mind your business. I dont think that someone that isnt gay will EVER understand it. You will hear people say ignorant comments and religious explanations. But him sticking his dick in him and her licking her is not different then you gossiping or sleeping with different men and having 3 children out of wedlock. I'm just saying...people that use religion for a basis on this topic need to be living right themselves in all areas and then say something...but then again if they dont understand it then they shouldnt speak on it...

Incarciration: You do the crime, you do the time period. No one needs to make excuses for people that do shit and get caught.

Lack of jobs: I dont know...but I do know that you have to beet your feet and look...everything won't come to you. Sometimes extreme measures may need to be taken to eat and I;m not talking about selling drugs, I'm talking about working overseas, moving to another state, etc. Solution: get online and look, job fairs, join the military reserves, etc. Basically keep looking and dont give up. Even in the state that the country is in, we still have more opportunities than most.

Lack of spiritual values: Not everyone is going to believe in the same thing and I dont think people should be criticized because they are not in church on Sunday jumping up and down. If you do or dont believe in anything then thats your life. I think instead of people trying to push their religion down other's throats, they need to just worry about their own family spirituality. Just because you feel spirituality made you better as a person does not mean the next person will feel that way and they are NOT wrong for that. Solution: Live and let live. NO 1 religion is right.

Oppression: NO ONE can be opressed unless they allow someone else to oppress them. This word should not be used as a crutch for lack of motivation. Solution: stop blaming the world or a group for your lack of motivation or because its convienient.

Hi there,

You seem like an intelligent person with some answers. None of us have all the answers as we all continue to learn until we die.

Let me clarify something. I didn't say anything about religion because I want people to research and find truth through GOD. Although I am religious, I choose not to elaborate on that. I'm not here to push my beliefs on anyone. This is just a discussion and all of us will not agree with eachother. But if we open our minds, we may learn something.

I will say that most of us do believe that this world was created by GOD. You say that no religion is "right". For the most part, religion is a set of beliefs and values of how people should live and conduct themselves. Religion helps us to be responsible for our actions and reminds us that there are consequences. While personally, I don't agree with a few things in several religions, they still have alot to offer for the most part.

Homosexuality is a choice. As you said, "no one has the right to tell another person what to do with their genitalia." That's how you know it's a choice, not subliminal. There are men who choose to get married and have children, then choose to be with a man. There are women who have children then choose to be with a woman. Let's remove religion from this and use nature. A female animal is created to to carry, grow and deliver the male's seed. The male's seed is needed in order for the species to recreate and remain in existance. The male animal is also responsible to protect it's offsping from other male animals who would kill it. In my opinion, being with the same sex serves no purpous for the existence and strenghth of us as a people. It is not helping us grow as a people.

Incarceration: Since us voters have voted for the the use of DNA, over 100 BLACK prisoners have been exonerated/released after serving years of incarceration for a crime they didn't commit. With that being said, black men/women are being convicted for crimes they didn't commit or unjustly coovicted. As a result being sentenced to too much time for petty crimes. Many politicians believe the 3 strike law was purposely put in place to target and keep black men incarcerated. As we know, a 3rd strike is merely(sometimes) a probation violation such as smoking a joint (which is now legal). Yet there are people getting a 25 to life sentence for this pettiness. We as taxpayers are continually paying for these prisoners to remain locked up. I'd rather pay for that mother or father to be rehabilitated at home taking care of their children.

When we look at these things collectively, they add up to the genocide of black people. As with having children out of wedlock, spreading HIV, etc. You have to think about the children who are our future and how all of this effects them and our future.

I don't have all the answers, just gave my opinion on your question. And yes its true, you never know what you can learn from others when you have an OPEN mind and open ears.

I hear what your saying when you said "There are men who choose to get married and have children, then choose to be with a man. There are women who have children then choose to be with a woman."

Yes thats true. But I think there is a difference between someone who is born this way and never slept with the opposite sex (not due to influence, but because they are actualy that way) and someone else who likes to experiment or is tired of being hurt by the opposite and makes the switch. Funny how men dont say they are tired of women and begin messing with men, but a lot of women do. Anyway I am losing my point. To me its their business and I dont care what people do in their lives because I am no better then them and just because I might throw religion into it does not make me better either. Sometimes it can be a choice, but there are people born this way as well. If you dont agree with me thats fine too. I'm not even gonna get into that discussion.

You said a females is an animal created to carry a child...etc so being with the same sex serves no purpose. Do you feel this same way when you see these men jumping from woman to woman and these women jumping from man to man solely for SEX and not procreation? All of these women that have 10 children already hopping from bed to bed strictly for pleasure...I'm just asking.

You sound like a religious person and thats great, hope it works out for you. I believe in God and I have my OWN personal relationship with him and thats works for me.
When you mentioned: "While personally, I don't agree with a few things in several religions, they still have alot to offer for the most part."
Thats a good point because all of the years I spent in other countries, a lot of people feel that exact way about Christians and other religions. I guess when you grow up in it then you have no choice, if people are born in another part of the world worshiping trees, they would think others were crazy for thinking there was a GOD, etc...But I am not getting into a religion discussion, I'm just agreeing with your statement and adding another point to it.

Wow I am feeling you on what you said about incarciration. If people are innocent and they are being sentenced to 25 years etc...that is wrong, very wrong. But for those that get out and keep doing the same thing then at what point it it their fault and not society trying to "bring them down?"

When you said : "When we look at these things collectively, they add up to the genocide of black people. As with having children out of wedlock, spreading HIV, etc. You have to think about the children who are our future and how all of this effects them and our future."

I just want to know what your solution is since you feel its a genocide. You dont feel like some people put themselves in these positions or is it all a plan for society white people to wipe blacks out?

That falls under the "lack of restraint" part of my discussion. And my answer is yes. I don't see anything wrong with couples who are in a monogomous relationship and enjoy sex without procreating if they plan to marry soon after. They should spend most of their time getting to know eachother before they start having sex though. That's one of my solutions for single parent homes, HIV and lack of sexual restraint.

I do believe black people should take responsibility for their actions. But I also believe in "each one teach one" and "it takes a village to raise a child". Many times these single parents can't and shouldn't do it alone. If we look at "society" from the 1800's until now, we can see the domino effect it's had on black people in America. After slavery was abolished, we had to fight for civil rights which we continue to fight for to this day. All other minorities have benefited from Martin Luther King and others' civil rights movements yet continue to have very little respect for black people in general. We see this on a daily basis. The politicians are constantly cutting funding for public schools which many black children attend. Furthermore, these teachers don't care whether the black children learn or not. Especially the non-black teachers. And this teacher behavior exists in college as well. At some point, early in a child's life, the parents must intervene and become more involved in the child's education. However, were looking at some single parents who are too overwhelmed doing a 2-parent job and/or undereducated themselves. And the cycle repeats. So you have teens breaking the law and such with a criminal record into adulthood. A good solution is to start a good rehabilition system in black communities that are "at risk" from the elementarty school stage. The rehabilitation should involve the parents and children on how to raise them effectively and keep the children focused on educational and life goals. Otherwise, how will we break the cycles? Apparently, the parents need education on parenting!

These cycles in the broken black families have lead to HIV, drugs, gangs, crime, murder, incarceration, etc. On top of that, black people have to work twice as hard as other races to obtain education, employment, property and loans. Now, employers are checking credit as a way to legally not hire black people. If oppression does not exist, there would've never been a need for "Affirmative Action". There would've never been a "civil rights movement".

Our 2008 presidential candidates are a good example of how a black person must work twice as hard as a non-black. In some states, John Mccain recieved the most votes. This man doesn't have even half the education or political experience as Barack Obama yet he got more votes in some states.

As far as repeat criminals, some of them want to turn their life around and have no opportunity for that and some don't even try.

JUST A THOUGHT. MAYBE THEY SHOULD MAKE A BIRTH CONTROL PILL FOR GUYS, OR HAVE THE VASCLIP AT A REDUCED LOW PRICE. IT WOULD STIFLE THE NUMBER OF PREGNACIES. EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD STOP THE NUMBER OF AIDS VICTIMS AND STD'S. BUT SOME PEOPLE ONLY THINK WITH THEIR MAGIC STICKS AND STINK BOXES.

I am writing an op-ed piece about this very topic for Hip-Hop Wired right now. I think there needs to be a stronger correlation between family, biological and not, within the community. Men need to be men in the lives of the younger generation, women can't do it alone, even though they have been programmed to think otherwise. That is no diss to women either, because they have been the one's holding us up as a people, even though we continue to not hold them in high esteem. I also think that there needs to be a stronger connection as a community with culture and tradition. That is going to prove difficult considering Black people's history since arriving in America, but it is not impossible. The spirit of our ancestors is alive in the breaks and beats that we vibe to daily in Hip-Hop, even though some of the lyrics are questionable at best. We as a people have to take a stand as declare that "today is the day that we will change for the better." We have to restore value to the family unit, teaching the importance of those who came before you and of the impact you have on those that are to come after. Restore the sanctity of marriage as well as the importance of being a "thinker" as opposed to a "doer." The last should help to curb senseless violence, accompanied by parental involvement.

Al these problems you mention are a result of the early move. Say at 17 you get a you girl pregnant, you now have a child who will probably be raised by grandma, clothed by aunts (and at times harrassed by uncles) - Who may grow up not having the value, emotional balance and spiritual guidance she/he needs. Chances are at 16 she/ he too will seek love elsewhere since she/he was born in a family structure that provided food clothes, tv and no love values and individual attention. this become a circle of young teenage parents looking for themselves while looking after children.
then there is an issue of affordability of education, role models and spiritual development. I agree we need to tackle this problem one at a time but we need to be more responsible as 'black man and women' Take communal responsibility for safe communities values, and create environments that protect and nurture children.

Those are good positive suggestions. I love hip hop. Entertainment is cool but the hip hop community needs to discuss these things because hip hop alone is not going to save our future. Occasionally, the conscious hip hop artists have a postive influence on our youth and adults, ie. Arrested Development, Icecube and others but the negative seems to attract more people nowadays. IDK.

"Create an environment that protects and nurtures children". Excellent. Now for those young adults who were not raised in those environments, who are making bad life decisions, there is no one to guide them so they get their guidence from the media, tv, radio instead of books and research. Hopefully, topics like these will reach the lost souls.

there is no solution as long as NIGGERS continue to multiply and Black people dwindle...the overall issue a support for ignorance which hits all of the aspects touched on and can't be solved until someone realizes that embracing destructive behavior isnt beneficial in the long run

Reply to This

I'm know I'm late on this reply. I'm a busy woman! Let me begin with some knowledge. The word "nigger" was derived from the African word "Niger" (which is now a country). "Niger" means KING and "Nigeria" means QUEEN. I wish everybody of every ethnicity knew that. We need to spread the word.

"Embracing destructive behavior isn't beneficial in the long run." Good one, so why isn't/doesn't BET start incorporating that into their programs? They took Tavis Smiley and other positive shows off. I thought the college reality shows would provide good examples for the young men/women but they failed to do that. They continue to cater to and influence the majority who "embrace destructive behavior." You just gave me an idea...

We as a people should collectively email BET to air more shows geared toward uplifting the community. Demonstrate how to survive in America, ie. stress the importance of education, managing finances, knowing your rights, people skills, how to become a home owner and throw some entertainment in there in between.

To many problems so there must be multiple solutions...j think step one is to understand you can't influence or change anyone that is an adult 25 older. One solution to some problems is to educate the youth. Not make sure they are in school but truly educate them on OUR problems as the black community. Sad thing is we can't rely on the govt to help is so we have to help ourselves...that is yet another problem, we don't seem to be able to work with each other at times.
We gotta care for ourselves, then our family, then Immediate community. Very difficult at this point especially in this system we are in called America
